Words can make you or break you! Wow, that’s a heavy statement. The Bible tells us in Proverbs 6:2 that, “Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.” Our words have the ability to create the atmosphere and condition in our own sphere of influence; that is our individual lives, homes, jobs, and family members around us. You see, we are made in the image and likeness of God, therefore, we use the same form of communication that our Heavenly Father uses……speaking words. What are you saying?
Notice in Genesis, when God created the world and everything in it, that He first spoke out His desire and then the result was manifested. For example: Gen. 1:3 says, “And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.” God had faith in His Words. In Hebrews 11:3 it says, “Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the Word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear or which are visible.” God was operating by faith in His own Words. The words that we speak also have creative power; the power to build up, the power to tear down and the power to change things.
The Bible is God’s Word and Will for man. It is His desired plan for man to live by. Through daily reading and meditation of His Word, we can begin to know and understand what He has provided for our life and what we can expect Him to do for us. This will also cause our faith in Him to grow strong. With this understanding, we can then speak what the Bible says over our lives and circumstances, regardless of the way things appear. Romans 3:4 says, “……let God be true, but every man a liar.” This means when man’s ways oppose what God says about us, God’s Word is the ultimate truth, not mans word; so obey and agree with the Word of God concerning your situation. In doing this, we are operating in obedience to God and walking in agreement with His will for our lives and God honors obedience.
So our words play an important part in our destiny. In Mark 11:23-24 Jesus said, “For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore, I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” Notice, we must both believe God’s Word and say God’s Word to see It come to pass. Also notice, it didn’t say to speak what you see, feel, taste, smell, or hear. Why? Because your feelings, almost always, will be contrary to God’s Word.
If you want to walk in the victory that has been provided for you through Christ, you are going to have to speak the Word of God over your life and be aware of any idle or foolish talking. God told us that we can have what we say, not what we mean. So always mean what you say!!!!
